Jewgenij Nesterenko was a renowned classical music artist who was born on January 8, 1938, in the city of Moscow, Russia. He was a bass-baritone singer who was known for his powerful voice and his ability to convey deep emotions through his performances. Nesterenko was born into a family of musicians, and his father was a well-known opera singer in Russia. This early exposure to music helped to shape Nesterenko's passion for singing, and he began his formal training at the Moscow Conservatory at the age of 18. During his time at the Moscow Conservatory, Nesterenko studied under the tutelage of some of the most renowned vocal coaches in Russia. In 1963, Nesterenko made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, where he performed the role of Escamillo in Georges Bizet's opera Carmen. Over the next few years, Nesterenko continued to perform in some of the most famous opera houses in Russia, including the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and the Kirov Opera in Moscow. In 1968, Nesterenko made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, where he performed the role of Boris Godunov in Modest Mussorgsky's opera of the same name. Throughout his career, Nesterenko performed in a wide range of operas, including works by Mozart, Verdi, and Tchaikovsky. Some of his most famous roles included Boris Godunov, Don Giovanni, and Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro.
