Role:EnsembleThe Atlantis Trio is a classical music ensemble consisting of three talented musicians: violinist Anna Lim, cellist David Wong, and pianist John Chen. The trio was formed in 2006 and has since become one of the most sought-after chamber music groups in the world. Anna Lim was born in Seoul, South Korea, and began playing the violin at the age of four. She moved to the United States at the age of 12 and continued her musical studies at the Juilliard School in New York City. David Wong was born in Hong Kong and started playing the cello at the age of six. He also attended the Juilliard School and later studied at the New England Conservatory of Music. John Chen was born in Taiwan and began playing the piano at the age of five. He studied at the Juilliard School and later at the Yale School of Music. The three musicians met while studying at the Juilliard School and quickly formed a strong bond. They began playing together informally and soon realized that they had a special chemistry as a group. They decided to form the Atlantis Trio and began performing together regularly. The Atlantis Trio quickly gained a reputation for their exceptional musicianship and dynamic performances. They have performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Berlin Philharmonic. They have also been featured on numerous radio and television programs, including NPR's "Performance Today" and PBS's "Live from Lincoln Center." One of the highlights of the Atlantis Trio's career was their performance at the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway. They were invited to perform alongside artists such as Herbie Hancock, Florence and the Machine, and Elvis Costello in honor of that year's Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Liu Xiaobo. The trio's performance was widely praised for its beauty and emotional depth. The Atlantis Trio has also received numerous awards and accolades for their performances. They were the winners of the 2008 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the 2011 Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition. They have also been awarded grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Chamber Music America Residency Partnership Program. In addition to their performances, the Atlantis Trio is also committed to music education. They have conducted masterclasses and workshops at schools and universities around the world, and have served as artists-in-residence at institutions such as the University of Michigan and the University of Texas at Austin. The Atlantis Trio has recorded several albums, including their debut album "Reflections" in 2008 and their most recent album "Brahms: The Piano Trios" in 2019.
