Filippo Gamba was born on May 12, 1985, in Milan, Italy. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a pianist and his mother a singer. From a young age, Gamba showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. He later started studying the violin and the viola, which became his main instruments. Gamba's musical education began at the Conservatory of Milan, where he studied under the guidance of renowned violinist Salvatore Accardo. He later continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, Germany, where he received a diploma in viola performance. Gamba's career as a professional musician began in 2007 when he won the prestigious International Viola Competition in Vienna, Austria. This victory launched his career and led to numerous invitations to perform as a soloist with orchestras around the world. One of Gamba's most notable performances was his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 2010. He performed Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola, and Orchestra, which was met with critical acclaim. The performance was described as "exquisite" and "a true masterpiece." Gamba has also performed with other major orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.
