Cecilio Perera is a renowned classical guitarist from Mexico. He was born on August 22, 1974, in Mexico City. His father, a music lover, introduced him to the guitar at a young age. Perera showed a natural talent for the instrument and began taking lessons from renowned guitarists in Mexico. Perera's talent was recognized early on, and he won his first guitar competition at the age of 12. He continued to win numerous competitions throughout his teenage years, including the National Guitar Competition in Mexico City in 1991. In 1992, Perera was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, Spain. He studied under the guidance of renowned guitarists such as Jose Luis Rodrigo and Demetrio Ballesteros. During his time in Spain, Perera also attended masterclasses with some of the world's most famous guitarists, including Manuel Barrueco and David Russell. Perera's career as a professional musician began in 1995 when he won the prestigious Francisco Tarrega International Guitar Competition in Spain. This win catapulted him to international fame, and he began performing in major concert halls around the world. Perera has performed in some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. Perera's repertoire includes a wide range of classical guitar music, from Baroque to contemporary. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Spanish composers such as Isaac Albeniz and Joaquin Rodrigo. In addition to his performing career, Perera is also a respected teacher. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid and the Juilliard School in New York. Perera has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In addition to his win at the Francisco Tarrega International Guitar Competition, he has also won the Andres Segovia International Guitar Competition and the Parkening International Guitar Competition. He has been awarded the Medal of Fine Arts by the Mexican government and has been named a UNESCO Artist for Peace. Despite his success, Perera remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform and teach, and his passion for the guitar is evident in every note he plays.
