Jennifer Stumm is a world-renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violist, chamber musician, and educator. Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1980, Stumm grew up in a musical family and began playing the viola at the age of six. She quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and began studying with renowned teachers such as Karen Tuttle and Kim Kashkashian. Stumm's early career was marked by a series of impressive accomplishments. In 1997, she won the prestigious National Symphony Orchestra Young Soloists Competition, which led to her debut performance with the orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. She went on to win numerous other competitions, including the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition in 2000 and the William Primrose International Viola Competition in 2006. Stumm's success as a soloist led to collaborations with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also performed as a chamber musician with some of the most celebrated ensembles in the world, including the Emerson String Quartet, the Guarneri Quartet, and the Tokyo String Quartet. In addition to her work as a performer, Stumm is also a dedicated educator. She has taught at some of the world's most prestigious music schools, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Juilliard School in New York. She is also the founder and artistic director of the International Chamber Music Festival of the Black Sea, which brings together young musicians from around the world for a week of intensive training and performances. Stumm's commitment to music education is reflected in her recordings as well. In 2012, she released an album titled "Viola Viola," which features works for two violas by composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Bartok. The album was praised for its innovative approach to the viola repertoire and its ability to showcase the instrument's versatility and beauty. Throughout her career, Stumm has been recognized for her contributions to classical music. In 2010, she was awarded the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, which provides financial support and career guidance to exceptional young musicians. She has also been named a BBC New Generation Artist and a Fulbright Scholar. Despite her many accomplishments, Stumm remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform and teach around the world, inspiring young musicians and audiences alike with her passion for classical music.
