He was born into a family of musicians, and his parents were both professional classical musicians. His father was a renowned cellist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Hans showed a keen interest in music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. Hans began his musical education at the age of five, when he started taking piano lessons from his mother. He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument, and by the age of ten, he had already won several local piano competitions. At the age of twelve, he was accepted into the prestigious Amsterdam Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Jan Wijn. During his time at the conservatory, Hans developed a deep love for classical music, and he spent countless hours practicing and perfecting his craft. He also began to perform in public, and he quickly gained a reputation as a talented and passionate pianist. In 2005, he won first prize in the prestigious International Franz Liszt Piano Competition, which was held in Utrecht, Netherlands. This was a major milestone in his career, and it helped to establish him as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. After graduating from the conservatory, Hans began to perform extensively throughout Europe and the United States. He quickly gained a reputation as a dynamic and engaging performer, and he was praised for his technical skill and emotional depth. He performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. One of the highlights of Hans' career was his performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the "Emperor" concerto, with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in 2010. This performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, and it helped to cement Hans' reputation as one of the leading pianists of his generation. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Hans was also an accomplished chamber musician. He frequently collaborated with other musicians, including his father, who he performed with on several occasions. He was also a member of the Amsterdam Piano Quartet, which was formed in 2012 and consisted of four of the most talented pianists in the Netherlands. Throughout his career, Hans received numerous awards and accolades for his performances. In 2013, he was awarded the prestigious Dutch Music Prize, which is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a classical musician in the Netherlands.
