Sergei Dorensky is a renowned classical pianist and professor of piano at the Moscow Conservatory. Born on August 1, 1959, in Moscow, Russia, Dorensky showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. He was born into a family of musicians, with his father being a pianist and his mother a violinist. Dorensky's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Dorensky's early musical education was at the Gnessin School of Music in Moscow, where he studied under the tutelage of Vera Gornostaeva. He later continued his studies at the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied with Lev Vlassenko. In 1980, Dorensky won first prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition, one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. He has also collaborated with many other musicians, including cellist Natalia Gutman and violinist Viktor Tretiakov. In addition to his career as a performer, Dorensky is also a highly respected teacher of piano. He has been a professor at the Moscow Conservatory since 1990 and has trained many of the leading pianists of the younger generation.
