Naji Hakim is a renowned Lebanese-French composer, organist, and pianist who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born on February 31, 1955, in Beirut, Lebanon, Hakim was raised in a family of musicians. His father, a music teacher, introduced him to the world of music at a young age, and he began playing the piano when he was just four years old. Hakim's musical talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became a prodigy. He began studying the organ when he was just seven years old and gave his first public performance at the age of ten. He continued his musical education at the National Conservatory of Beirut, where he studied piano, organ, and composition. In 1975, Hakim moved to Paris to continue his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. There, he studied under some of the most renowned musicians of the time, including Jean Langlais, Maurice Duruflé, and Olivier Messiaen. He graduated with top honors in 1980, and his talent was quickly recognized by the music world. Hakim's compositions are known for their unique blend of Western and Middle Eastern musical traditions. He has composed works for a variety of instruments, including the organ, piano, orchestra, and choir. Some of his most notable works include his organ symphonies, which are considered some of the most significant contributions to the organ repertoire in the 20th century. Hakim's music has been performed by some of the world's most renowned musicians and orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic.
