Frederieke Saeijs is a Dutch classical violinist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and musical sensitivity. Born in 1979 in Amsterdam, Saeijs began playing the violin at the age of four and showed exceptional talent from an early age. She studied at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam with Herman Krebbers and later at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover with Krzysztof Wegrzyn. Saeijs made her debut as a soloist with the Amsterdam Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 12 and has since performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. She has collaborated with conductors such as Jaap van Zweden, Valery Gergiev, and Vladimir Ashkenazy. One of Saeijs's most notable performances was her debut at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in 2005, where she played the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was widely praised for its technical brilliance and emotional depth, and established Saeijs as one of the most promising young violinists of her generation. Saeijs has also been a frequent guest at major music festivals around the world, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the BBC Proms. In 2010, she was invited to perform at the opening concert of the prestigious Festival de Radio France et Montpellier, where she played the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Orchestre National de France. In addition to her work as a soloist, Saeijs is also an active chamber musician and has collaborated with many of the world's leading musicians, including pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, cellist Mischa Maisky, and violinist Maxim Vengerov. Saeijs has received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career, including the prestigious Dutch Music Prize in 2008, which is the highest honor that can be awarded to a musician in the Netherlands. She has also been awarded the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, the Avery Fisher Career Grant, and the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award. In addition to her performing career, Saeijs is also a dedicated teacher and has given masterclasses at many of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Conservatoire de Paris. She is currently a professor of violin at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Saeijs's playing is characterized by its technical brilliance, musical sensitivity, and emotional depth.
