Vox Futura is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2016 in New York City. The group is known for its innovative and dynamic performances, which blend traditional classical music with contemporary styles and techniques. The founding members of Vox Futura are soprano Martha Cluver, mezzo-soprano Elisa Sutherland, tenor Christopher Herbert, and bass-baritone Jonathan Woody. Vox Futura has collaborated with a wide range of composers and musicians, including Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw, jazz pianist and composer Vijay Iyer, and the Grammy-nominated vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth. One of the highlights of Vox Futura's career was their performance at the 2018 Ojai Music Festival in California. The festival, which is one of the most prestigious classical music events in the United States, invited Vox Futura to perform a program of contemporary vocal music that included works by Caroline Shaw, David Lang, and Ted Hearne. The performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, and cemented Vox Futura's reputation as one of the most exciting and innovative classical music ensembles in the country. In addition to their live performances, Vox Futura has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. Their debut album, "The Fifth Century," was released in 2016 and features works by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and Roomful of Teeth member Caroline Shaw.
