Anne Leek was born on May 15, 1985, in London, England. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Leek showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Leek's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking private lessons with renowned violinists and attended the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied under the guidance of Professor David Takeno. During her time at the Royal Academy of Music, Leek won several awards and competitions, including the prestigious Royal Academy of Music Bach Prize and the Royal Philharmonic Society's Julius Isserlis Scholarship. These awards helped to establish her as a rising star in the classical music world. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music, Leek began performing with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She also performed as a soloist with many of these orchestras, showcasing her virtuosic talent and musical sensitivity. One of Leek's most memorable performances was her debut at the BBC Proms in 2009, where she performed the Brahms Violin Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra. The performance was met with critical acclaim, with The Guardian describing Leek's playing as "mesmerizing" and "spellbinding." In addition to her performances as a soloist, Leek is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. Leek's recordings have also received critical acclaim. Her recording of the Brahms Violin Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2010, and her recording of the Beethoven Violin Sonatas with pianist Paul Lewis was named "Recording of the Month" by Gramophone magazine. Throughout her career, Leek has been committed to promoting classical music to a wider audience. She has performed in schools and community centers, and has worked with organizations such as the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain to inspire young musicians. Leek's talent and dedication to her craft have earned her numerous accolades and awards. In addition to the awards she won as a student, she has been awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society's Instrumentalist Award and the Wigmore Hall Medal, among others. Despite her success, Leek remains humble and focused on her music. She continues to perform and record, and is dedicated to sharing her love of classical music with audiences around the world.More....
