The Weiss-Kaplan-Stumpf Trio is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over a decade. The trio consists of three highly accomplished musicians: pianist Yael Weiss, violinist Mark Kaplan, and cellist Peter Stumpf. Together, they have established themselves as one of the most dynamic and exciting chamber music groups in the world. The Weiss-Kaplan-Stumpf Trio was founded in 2005, when Yael Weiss and Mark Kaplan met at the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and decided to form a trio with Peter Stumpf, who was then the principal cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The trio's first performance was at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, and it was an immediate success. Since then, the Weiss-Kaplan-Stumpf Trio has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls and music festivals in the world. They have been featured at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Ravinia Festival in Chicago, the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, and the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival in Israel, among many others. They have also collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians of our time, including pianist Menahem Pressler and violinist Shmuel Ashkenasi. One of the highlights of the Weiss-Kaplan-Stumpf Trio's career was their performance of Beethoven's complete piano trios at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. This was a monumental undertaking, as Beethoven's piano trios are some of the most challenging and complex works in the chamber music repertoire. The trio's performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising their technical mastery and emotional depth. The Weiss-Kaplan-Stumpf Trio has also been recognized with numerous awards and accolades. They were the recipients of the prestigious Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award in 2011, which is given to outstanding piano trios from around the world. They have also been featured on NPR's "Performance Today" and have been praised by The New York Times for their "exquisite playing" and "deeply felt interpretations." In addition to their performances, the Weiss-Kaplan-Stumpf Trio is committed to education and outreach. They have conducted masterclasses and workshops at universities and music schools around the world, and have worked with young musicians through programs such as the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America. They are also passionate about commissioning and performing new works by contemporary composers, and have premiered pieces by composers such as Richard Danielpour and Paul Schoenfield. Overall, the Weiss-Kaplan-Stumpf Trio is a testament to the power and beauty of chamber music. Their performances are marked by a deep sense of collaboration and mutual respect, and their commitment to excellence and innovation has earned them a place among the most celebrated ensembles of our time.More....
