Sofi Jeannin is a French conductor and musician who has made a name for herself in the world of classical music. Born in 1971 in Paris, Jeannin grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a young age. Her father was a composer and her mother was a singer, and they both encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Jeannin began her musical education at the Conservatoire de Paris, where she studied piano and choral conducting. She later went on to study orchestral conducting at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. During her studies, Jeannin was mentored by renowned conductors such as Pierre Boulez and Seiji Ozawa. After completing her studies, Jeannin began her career as a conductor, working with various orchestras and choirs in France and abroad. She quickly gained a reputation for her skill and talent, and was soon invited to conduct major orchestras such as the Orchestre National de France and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of Jeannin's most notable achievements was her appointment as the first female conductor of the Chœur de Radio France in 2008. This was a significant milestone for Jeannin, as the Chœur de Radio France is one of the most prestigious choirs in France, and had never before been led by a woman. Under Jeannin's leadership, the Chœur de Radio France went on to achieve great success, performing at major venues such as the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Royal Albert Hall. Jeannin also led the choir in several recordings, including a critically acclaimed album of works by Maurice Duruflé. In addition to her work with the Chœur de Radio France, Jeannin has also conducted many other choirs and orchestras, both in France and abroad. She has worked with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre National de Lyon, and the Orchestre de Paris, among others. Jeannin's talent and dedication have been recognized with numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 2015, she was awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government, in recognition of her contributions to the arts. She has also been awarded the Prix Liliane Bettencourt pour le chant choral, the Prix de la Fondation Simone et Cino Del Duca, and the Prix de la Fondation Charles Oulmont. Despite her many achievements, Jeannin remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She is known for her meticulous attention to detail and her ability to bring out the best in her musicians and singers. Her passion for music is evident in every performance, and she continues to inspire and delight audiences around the world.
