He was the son of a music teacher and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. Skold showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He was a prodigious talent and quickly developed a reputation as a gifted musician. Skold's musical education began at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where he studied under the tutelage of some of the most respected music teachers in Sweden. He showed a remarkable aptitude for music and quickly rose through the ranks, earning a reputation as one of the most promising young musicians in the country. Skold's talent was recognized early on, and he was invited to perform at some of the most prestigious music festivals in Europe. He made his debut at the Salzburg Festival in 1968, where he performed Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major. The performance was a resounding success, and Skold was hailed as a rising star in the classical music world. Over the next few years, Skold continued to perform at some of the most prestigious music festivals in Europe, including the Edinburgh Festival, the Lucerne Festival, and the Berlin Festival. He also made his debut in the United States, performing at the Lincoln Center in New York City. Skold's performances were characterized by his technical brilliance and his ability to convey the emotional depth of the music he was playing. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of the works of Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin, and his performances of these composers' works were considered to be among the finest in the world.
