Gosebruch continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin, where he studied under the guidance of pianist and composer, Edwin Fischer. In 1943, Gosebruch was drafted into the German army and was sent to the Eastern Front. During his time in the army, Gosebruch continued to play the piano and gave impromptu performances for his fellow soldiers. After the war ended, Gosebruch returned to Berlin and resumed his studies at the Hochschule für Musik. In 1948, Gosebruch made his debut as a concert pianist, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was a huge success, and Gosebruch quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented pianists of his generation. Over the next few years, Gosebruch performed extensively throughout Europe, playing with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world. In 1952, he made his debut in the United States, performing with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was a huge success, and Gosebruch quickly became a favorite among American audiences. Throughout his career, Gosebruch was known for his technical brilliance and his ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he played. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of the works of Beethoven, Mozart, and Schubert.
