Elisabeth's parents recognized her potential and enrolled her in the Vienna Conservatory of Music when she was just six years old. She studied under some of the most renowned music teachers in Austria, and her talent continued to flourish. By the time she was a teenager, Elisabeth had already won several awards for her piano performances. In 1963, Elisabeth graduated from the Vienna Conservatory of Music with honors. She then went on to study at the Salzburg Mozarteum, where she continued to hone her skills as a pianist. Elisabeth's big break came in 1967 when she won the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland.
