Sipes continued to hone his skills and eventually decided to pursue a career in music. In 1968, Sipes enrolled at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. He studied under some of the most renowned music teachers of the time, including Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland. Sipes excelled in his studies and graduated with honors in 1972. After completing his studies, Sipes began his professional career as a pianist. He quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and was invited to perform at some of the most prestigious venues in the world. In 1974, he made his debut at Carnegie Hall, where he received a standing ovation for his performance. Over the years, Sipes continued to perform at various venues around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. He also collaborated with some of the most renowned orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Sipes was known for his exceptional technique and his ability to bring out the emotions in the music he played. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of the works of Beethoven, Chopin, and Mozart. His performances were always highly anticipated, and he never failed to impress his audiences.
