Karin Kei Nagano is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with her virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in Berkeley, California in 1981, Nagano was raised in a family of musicians. Her father, Kent Nagano, is a world-renowned conductor, and her mother, Mari Kodama, is a pianist. From a young age, Nagano showed a natural talent for music, and began studying piano at the age of three. Nagano's early musical education was shaped by her parents' influence. She studied with her mother, who instilled in her a deep love of the music of Mozart and Beethoven. Nagano also had the opportunity to attend rehearsals and performances with her father, who was then the music director of the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra. These experiences exposed her to a wide range of musical styles and helped to shape her musical sensibility. As a child, Nagano showed remarkable talent on the piano. She won her first competition at the age of six, and by the time she was a teenager, she had already performed with several orchestras, including the San Francisco Symphony and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Nagano's talent was recognized by some of the most prestigious music schools in the world, and she was accepted into the Juilliard School in New York City at the age of 16. Nagano has also collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians of our time, including her father, Kent Nagano, and the violinist Renaud Capuçon.
