Cora Irsen was born on May 12, 1985, in Berlin, Germany. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Cora showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Cora's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking lessons with renowned violin teachers in Germany and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent. At the age of 12, Cora won first prize in the prestigious Jugend musiziert competition, which is a national competition for young musicians in Germany. After this early success, Cora continued to study music and hone her skills. She attended the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, where she studied with renowned violinist Ulf Wallin. During her time at the conservatory, Cora won several awards and competitions, including the International Violin Competition in Kloster Schöntal and the International Violin Competition in Buenos Aires. After completing her studies, Cora began performing professionally as a soloist and chamber musician. She quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented young violinists in Germany and began receiving invitations to perform at major concert halls and festivals around the world. One of Cora's most memorable performances was at the Berlin Philharmonic in 2010. She performed the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle. The performance was widely praised by critics and established Cora as a rising star in the classical music world. In addition to her solo performances, Cora is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has performed with some of the world's most renowned chamber ensembles, including the Artemis Quartet and the Hagen Quartet. Cora is known for her ability to blend seamlessly with other musicians and create a cohesive and powerful sound. Throughout her career, Cora has received numerous awards and accolades for her performances. In 2012, she was awarded the prestigious Echo Klassik award for her recording of the Brahms Violin Sonatas. She has also been awarded the German Music Prize and the Berliner Kunstpreis.
