Duo Podeur & Bass is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2015 by two talented musicians, pianist Marie Podeur and double bassist Antoine Bass. The duo has gained recognition for their unique sound and innovative approach to classical music. Marie Podeur was born in Paris, France, and began playing the piano at the age of six. She studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where she earned a degree in piano performance. Antoine Bass was born in Lyon, France, and started playing the double bass at the age of nine. He also studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he earned a degree in double bass performance. The two musicians met while studying at the conservatory and quickly discovered a shared passion for classical music. They began playing together and soon realized that their unique combination of piano and double bass created a sound that was both powerful and delicate. In 2015, Duo Podeur & Bass officially formed and began performing together. Their first major performance was at the Festival de Musique de Menton in France, where they received critical acclaim for their performance of works by Mozart and Schubert. Since then, the duo has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and Carnegie Hall in New York City. They have also performed at numerous music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Ravinia Festival. Duo Podeur & Bass has gained a reputation for their innovative approach to classical music. They often incorporate elements of jazz and other genres into their performances, creating a sound that is both traditional and modern. They have also commissioned new works from contemporary composers, including Nico Muhly and Bryce Dessner. In addition to their performances, Duo Podeur & Bass has also received numerous awards and accolades. They were awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2018, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise. They have also been nominated for several Grammy Awards, including Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance and Best Classical Instrumental Solo. Despite their success, Duo Podeur & Bass remains committed to their craft and to each other. They continue to push the boundaries of classical music and inspire audiences around the world with their unique sound and innovative approach.
