Timothy Rhys-Evans is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. He was born on 15th October 1967 in the town of Treorchy, South Wales. From a young age, Timothy showed a keen interest in music and began singing in his local church choir. His talent was quickly recognized, and he was encouraged to pursue a career in music. Timothy attended the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned vocal coach, Patricia O'Neill. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1989 and went on to pursue a Master's degree in Music at the University of Cambridge. After completing his studies, Timothy began his professional career as a choral conductor. He founded the Welsh male voice choir, Only Men Aloud, in 2000, which quickly gained popularity and went on to win the BBC's Last Choir Standing competition in 2008. The choir's success led to numerous performances across the UK and Europe, including a performance at the Royal Variety Performance in 2009. In addition to his work with Only Men Aloud, Timothy has also conducted numerous other choirs, including the London Symphony Chorus, the BBC National Chorus of Wales, and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Chamber Choir. He has also worked as a guest conductor with orchestras such as the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Timothy's talent as a conductor has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades. In 2009, he was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for his services to music. He has also been awarded the Welsh Music Prize and the Classical Brit Award for Best Album of the Year. In addition to his work as a conductor, Timothy is also an accomplished singer. He has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras and choirs, including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the London Symphony Chorus. He has also recorded several albums as a solo artist, including his debut album, "Timothy Rhys-Evans Sings Welsh Hymns," which was released in 2006. One of Timothy's most notable performances was his appearance at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He conducted the Only Men Aloud choir in a performance of "Bread of Heaven," which was watched by millions of people around the world. Timothy is also a passionate advocate for music education. He has worked as a vocal coach and mentor to numerous young singers and has served as a judge on several music competitions, including the BBC's Young Chorister of the Year competition. In 2018, Timothy announced that he would be stepping down as the conductor of Only Men Aloud to focus on other projects. He continues to perform as a solo artist and conductor and is widely regarded as one of the most talented and influential figures in the world of classical music.
