Amy Shulman is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a harpist, composer, and arranger. Born in Los Angeles, California, in 1964, Shulman grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a jazz pianist, and her mother was a singer, so it was only natural that Shulman would develop a love for music at a young age. Shulman began playing the harp when she was just six years old, and by the time she was a teenager, she was already performing professionally. She studied at the University of Southern California, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in harp performance. She then went on to earn a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Throughout her career, Shulman has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with many notable conductors, such as Leonard Bernstein, Zubin Mehta, and Esa-Pekka Salonen. One of the highlights of Shulman's career was her performance at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was chosen to perform the national anthem on the harp at the opening ceremony, which was watched by millions of people around the world. This performance helped to bring Shulman's music to a wider audience and cemented her reputation as one of the world's top harpists. In addition to her work as a performer, Shulman is also an accomplished composer and arranger. She has written music for film and television, including the theme for the popular TV show "The West Wing." She has also arranged music for many famous artists, such as Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, and Josh Groban. Shulman has received many awards and honors throughout her career. In 1993, she won the prestigious Concert Artists Guild International Competition, which helped to launch her career as a soloist. She has also been awarded grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the California Arts Council. Despite her many accomplishments, Shulman remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform and record music, and she is always looking for new ways to push the boundaries of what is possible on the harp. Her passion for music and her commitment to excellence have made her one of the most respected and admired classical music artists of her generation.
