Nikolina Pankova is a Bulgarian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a talented pianist and composer. Born on May 5, 1991, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Pankova showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Her parents, both musicians themselves, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Pankova's early years were spent studying music at the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" in Sofia. She quickly distinguished herself as a gifted pianist, winning numerous awards and competitions. In 2007, she won first prize at the National Competition for Young Pianists in Bulgaria, and in 2008, she won first prize at the International Competition for Young Pianists "Virtuosos of the 21st Century" in the Czech Republic. In 2009, Pankova was accepted into the prestigious Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where she studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher Eliso Virsaladze. During her time at the conservatory, Pankova continued to excel, winning first prize at the International Piano Competition "Citta di Barletta" in Italy in 2011 and the International Piano Competition "Citta di Sulmona" in Italy in 2012. Pankova's talent as a composer also began to emerge during her time at the conservatory. In 2013, she won first prize at the International Composition Competition "New Music Generation" in Bulgaria for her piece "The Last Dance of the Butterfly." Her compositions have since been performed by various orchestras and ensembles, including the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra and the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra. After completing her studies at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2014, Pankova began to establish herself as a soloist and chamber musician. She has performed in numerous concerts and festivals throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States, collaborating with renowned musicians such as violinist Maxim Vengerov and cellist Alexander Kniazev. One of Pankova's most notable performances took place in 2016, when she performed as a soloist with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Pavel Kogan. The concert, which took place at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, featured Pankova performing Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2. The performance was met with critical acclaim, with reviewers praising Pankova's "virtuosic technique" and "sensitive interpretation." In addition to her performances as a soloist, Pankova is also an active chamber musician. She has collaborated with various ensembles, including the Moscow Soloists Chamber Orchestra and the Moscow Piano Quartet. In 2018, she formed the Pankova Piano Duo with her sister, pianist Dilyana Pankova. The duo has since performed in numerous concerts and festivals, showcasing their unique blend of classical and contemporary music. Pankova's talent and hard work have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 2015, she was awarded the "Young Talents of Bulgaria" prize by the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture. In 2017, she was named a laureate of the International Competition for Young Musicians "Ohrid Pearls" in Macedonia. She has also been a recipient of various scholarships and grants, including the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation Scholarship and the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship. Despite her many accomplishments, Pankova remains humble and dedicated to her craft.
