Eric Allen was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a jazz pianist and his mother a classical violinist. From a young age, Eric showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Eric's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue music seriously. He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires, at the age of six. Under her guidance, Eric developed a deep understanding and appreciation for classical music. As a teenager, Eric continued to hone his skills and began performing in local concerts and competitions. He won several awards and accolades, including first prize in the New York Piano Competition and the Young Artist Award from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. After graduating from high school, Eric attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist Emanuel Ax. During his time at Juilliard, Eric continued to excel and was awarded the prestigious Arthur Rubinstein Prize in Piano.
