Born on May 5, 1978, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Nikolov showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument and began studying with some of Bulgaria's most renowned piano teachers. As a young musician, Nikolov won numerous awards and competitions, including the National Piano Competition in Bulgaria and the International Piano Competition in Italy. He also performed in some of Bulgaria's most prestigious concert halls, including the National Palace of Culture and the Bulgarian National Opera. In 1996, Nikolov was accepted into the National Academy of Music in Sofia, where he studied piano performance and composition. During his time at the academy, he continued to win awards and accolades for his performances, including the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition in Romania. After graduating from the academy in 2001, Nikolov began to establish himself as a professional musician. He performed extensively throughout Bulgaria and Europe, playing with some of the continent's most renowned orchestras and conductors. He also began to develop a reputation as a composer, writing music for film, television, and the stage. In 2005, Nikolov moved to the United States to pursue further studies in music. He enrolled in the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where he studied piano performance and conducting. During his time at the conservatory, he continued to win awards and accolades for his performances, including the prestigious Concerto Competition. After graduating from the conservatory in 2008, Nikolov began to establish himself as a musician in the United States. He performed extensively throughout the country, playing with some of the nation's most renowned orchestras and conductors. He also continued to compose music, writing for a variety of mediums, including film, television, and the concert stage. In 2012, Nikolov was appointed as the music director of the Boston Civic Symphony, a position he held for three years. During his tenure with the orchestra, he led them in numerous performances and recordings, earning critical acclaim for his innovative programming and dynamic conducting style. In addition to his work as a pianist, conductor, and composer, Nikolov is also a dedicated music educator. He has taught at some of the world's most prestigious music schools, including the New England Conservatory of Music and the Boston University School of Music. In 2014, he was awarded the prestigious Artist Diploma from the New England Conservatory of Music, recognizing his outstanding achievements as a musician.
