Moscow New Choir is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with its exceptional performances for over 25 years. The choir was founded in 1991 by conductor and composer, Igor Zhukov, who aimed to create a new sound in choral music that would combine the traditional Russian choral style with contemporary Western music. The ensemble comprises of 24 professional singers, all of whom are graduates of the Moscow Conservatory and have extensive experience in performing classical music. The choir's repertoire includes a wide range of music, from traditional Russian folk songs to contemporary choral works by composers such as Arvo Pärt, John Tavener, and Eric Whitacre. One of the highlights of Moscow New Choir's career was their performance at the 1994 World Choral Symposium in Helsinki, where they received critical acclaim for their unique sound and exceptional technique. The choir has also performed at numerous international festivals, including the Moscow Easter Festival, the St. Petersburg International Choral Festival, and the Festival of Sacred Music in Rome. In addition to their live performances, Moscow New Choir has released several recordings, including their debut album "Russian Choral Music" in 1993, which received widespread praise for its innovative approach to traditional Russian choral music. The choir's other recordings include "Sacred Treasures III: Choral Masterworks from Russia and Beyond" and "Russian Orthodox Chants." Over the years, Moscow New Choir has received numerous awards and accolades for their outstanding performances. In 1995, they were awarded the Grand Prix at the International Choral Competition in Tolosa, Spain, and in 2001, they received the prestigious Golden Mask Award for their performance of Sergei Rachmaninoff's "All-Night Vigil." Despite their success, Moscow New Choir remains committed to their mission of creating a new sound in choral music and pushing the boundaries of traditional Russian choral music. Their dedication to their craft and their exceptional performances have made them one of the most respected and admired choral ensembles in the world.
