Richard Sanchez was born on May 15, 1985, in Los Angeles, California. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a classical guitarist and his mother a pianist. From a young age, Sanchez showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Sanchez's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue music seriously. He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Maria Rodriguez, at the age of six. Under her guidance, Sanchez quickly developed his skills and began performing in local concerts and competitions. At the age of 12, Sanchez won first prize in the Los Angeles Young Pianist Competition, which marked the beginning of his professional career. He continued to win numerous awards and competitions throughout his teenage years, including the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition at the age of 17. Sanchez's talent and dedication to music earned him a full scholarship to the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Yoheved Kaplinsky. During his time at Juilliard, Sanchez continued to win awards and competitions, including the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and the International Tchaikovsky Competition. After graduating from Juilliard with a Bachelor of Music degree, Sanchez began performing extensively throughout the United States and Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented and dynamic young pianists of his generation, known for his technical prowess and emotional depth. Sanchez's performances have been praised by critics and audiences alike, with many noting his ability to bring a fresh perspective to classical music.
