Dúo México Con Brio is a classical music duo consisting of Mexican pianist Jorge Federico Osorio and American violinist Elmar Oliveira. The duo was formed in 2009 and has since become one of the most renowned classical music ensembles in the world. Jorge Federico Osorio was born in Mexico City in 1951. He began playing the piano at the age of four and gave his first public performance at the age of six. He studied at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City and later at the Juilliard School in New York City. Osorio has won numerous awards throughout his career, including the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1981. Elmar Oliveira was born in Naugatuck, Connecticut in 1950. He began playing the violin at the age of eight and later studied at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, Connecticut. Oliveira has won numerous awards throughout his career, including the gold medal at the Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow in 1978. The two musicians first met in 2008 when they were both performing at the Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico. They quickly discovered a shared passion for classical music and decided to form a duo. They chose the name Dúo México Con Brio, which means "Duo Mexico with Spirit." Since their formation, Dúo México Con Brio has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. They have also performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. One of the highlights of Dúo México Con Brio's career was their performance at the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway. They performed alongside artists such as Herbie Hancock, Florence and the Machine, and Robyn. The concert was broadcast to millions of viewers around the world. Dúo México Con Brio has also released several critically acclaimed albums, including their debut album, "Mexican Virtuoso," which features works by Mexican composers such as Manuel Ponce and Carlos Chávez. Their album "Brahms: The Violin Sonatas" was praised by critics for its "passionate and virtuosic" performances. In addition to their performances and recordings, Dúo México Con Brio is also committed to music education. They have conducted masterclasses and workshops for young musicians around the world, including at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City and the Juilliard School in New York City. Dúo México Con Brio has received numerous awards and honors throughout their career. In 2012, they were awarded the Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle, the highest honor given to foreigners by the Mexican government. They have also been named cultural ambassadors by the Mexican government and have received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C.
