Ensemble DeChorum is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2008 in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. The ensemble is known for its unique approach to classical music, which combines traditional repertoire with contemporary works and improvisation. The founding members of Ensemble DeChorum were pianist and composer André Mehmari, cellist Antonio Meneses, and percussionist Caito Marcondes. The three musicians had previously collaborated on various projects and shared a passion for exploring new musical horizons. From the beginning, Ensemble DeChorum set out to create a new kind of classical music experience that would appeal to a wider audience. The ensemble's repertoire includes works by classical composers such as Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart, as well as contemporary pieces by Mehmari and other composers. One of the highlights of Ensemble DeChorum's early career was their performance at the 2009 São Paulo International Music Festival. The ensemble's innovative approach to classical music was well-received by audiences and critics alike, and they quickly gained a reputation as one of Brazil's most exciting new classical music ensembles. Over the years, Ensemble DeChorum has expanded its membership to include a diverse group of musicians from Brazil and around the world. The ensemble's current members include Mehmari on piano, Meneses on cello, Marcondes on percussion, and violinists Emmanuele Baldini and Nicolas Krassik. Ensemble DeChorum has performed at some of the world's most prestigious music festivals and venues, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The ensemble has also collaborated with a wide range of artists from different musical genres, including jazz pianist Herbie Hancock and Brazilian singer-songwriter Milton Nascimento. One of Ensemble DeChorum's most notable performances was their 2014 concert at the São Paulo Municipal Theater, which was broadcast live on Brazilian television. The concert featured a mix of classical and contemporary works, including Mehmari's own compositions, and was praised for its energy and creativity. In addition to their performances, Ensemble DeChorum has also received numerous awards and accolades for their contributions to classical music. The ensemble was awarded the 2012 APCA Prize for Best Classical Music Group, and Mehmari was named Best Instrumentalist at the 2013 Brazilian Music Awards. Ensemble DeChorum continues to push the boundaries of classical music and inspire audiences around the world with their innovative approach to the genre. With their unique blend of tradition and innovation, the ensemble has established themselves as one of the most exciting and dynamic classical music ensembles of our time.More....
