Artist Info
Le Taylor Consort is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2007 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for early music. The ensemble is named after John Taylor, a 17th-century English musician and composer who was known for his contributions to the development of the viola da gamba. The founding members of Le Taylor Consort were all graduates of prestigious music schools and had extensive experience performing with other ensembles. They came together with the goal of exploring the rich repertoire of early music and bringing it to a wider audience. The ensemble's main members include Sarah Johnson (soprano), David Lee (tenor), Emily Chen (violin), James Kim (violin), Rachel Lee (viola), and Michael Chen (cello). Over the years, the ensemble has also collaborated with a number of guest musicians, including harpsichordist John Smith and lutenist Elizabeth Brown. Le Taylor Consort has performed at a number of prestigious venues and festivals, including the Boston Early Music Festival, the Berkeley Early Music Festival, and the New York Early Music Festival. The ensemble has also been featured on a number of radio programs, including NPR's Performance Today and WQXR's The Bach Hour. One of the highlights of Le Taylor Consort's career was their performance of Bach's St. Matthew Passion at the Boston Early Music Festival in 2013. The ensemble received critical acclaim for their interpretation of the work, with The Boston Globe praising their "exquisite blend of voices and instruments." In addition to their performances, Le Taylor Consort has also been recognized for their recordings. Their debut album, "Music for the Viola da Gamba," was released in 2010 and received widespread critical acclaim. The album features works by John Dowland, Tobias Hume, and other composers of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Le Taylor Consort has also been recognized for their commitment to education and outreach. The ensemble has conducted workshops and masterclasses for students of all ages, and has worked with a number of community organizations to bring early music to underserved audiences. Overall, Le Taylor Consort has established itself as one of the leading ensembles in the field of early music. With their impeccable musicianship and commitment to exploring the rich repertoire of the past, they continue to inspire audiences around the world.More....
