The ensemble is made up of some of the most talented musicians from the Nordic countries, including Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland. The ensemble's mission is to promote Nordic classical music and to bring it to audiences around the world. The Nordic Chamber Ensemble was founded by violinist Malin Broman and cellist Andreas Brantelid. Broman and Brantelid had both studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and had performed together in various chamber music groups. All of these musicians are highly respected in the classical music world and have performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras and ensembles in the world. One of the highlights of the Nordic Chamber Ensemble's career was their performance at the Nobel Prize ceremony in 2008. The performance was widely praised and helped to raise the profile of the ensemble. Another major performance for the Nordic Chamber Ensemble was their appearance at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2010. The ensemble performed a program of Nordic classical music, including works by Grieg, Sibelius, and Nielsen. The performance was a huge success and helped to establish the ensemble as one of the leading chamber music groups in Europe. The Nordic Chamber Ensemble has also won several awards for their performances and recordings. In 2012, the ensemble won the Swedish Grammis award for Best Classical Album for their recording of works by Swedish composer Anders Hillborg.
