Nathaniel Broman was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Broman showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the violin at the age of four. Broman's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking lessons with renowned violin teachers, including Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman. Broman's dedication and hard work paid off, and he quickly became one of the most promising young violinists of his generation. In 2003, Broman was accepted into the Juilliard School, one of the most prestigious music schools in the world. He studied under the guidance of Dorothy DeLay, one of the most influential violin teachers of the 20th century. During his time at Juilliard, Broman won numerous awards and competitions, including the Juilliard Concerto Competition and the Aspen Music Festival Concerto Competition. After graduating from Juilliard in 2007, Broman began his professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. He quickly gained a reputation for his virtuosic playing and his ability to connect with audiences. Broman has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of the highlights of Broman's career was his performance of the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2012. The concert was a huge success, and Broman received a standing ovation from the audience. The Berliner Zeitung praised Broman's "brilliant technique and emotional depth," and called him "one of the most exciting young violinists of our time." Broman has also made a name for himself as a chamber musician. He has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. In 2015, Broman formed his own chamber ensemble, the Nathaniel Broman Ensemble, which has received critical acclaim for its innovative programming and virtuosic playing. In addition to his performing career, Broman is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the Royal Academy of Music in London. In 2010, he was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, one of the most prestigious awards for young musicians in the United States.
