Guillaume Cottet-Dumoulin is a French cellist who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born in 1989 in Lyon, France, Cottet-Dumoulin began playing the cello at the age of six. He showed a natural talent for the instrument and quickly progressed, eventually studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Cottet-Dumoulin's talent was recognized early on, and he won several awards and competitions as a young musician. In 2007, he won first prize at the International Cello Competition in Liezen, Austria, and in 2008, he won the Grand Prix at the International Cello Competition in Lille, France. These early successes helped to establish Cottet-Dumoulin as a rising star in the classical music world. After completing his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Cottet-Dumoulin began performing professionally. He has since performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and the Orchestre de Paris. He has also collaborated with many renowned conductors, such as Daniel Barenboim, Christoph Eschenbach, and Paavo Järvi. One of Cottet-Dumoulin's most notable performances was his debut at the Berlin Philharmonic in 2014. He performed the cello concerto by French composer Édouard Lalo, and his performance was met with critical acclaim. The Berliner Zeitung praised his "warm, rich tone" and his "impressive technical skill." Cottet-Dumoulin has also made a name for himself as a chamber musician. In 2016, he formed the Trio Karénine with pianist Paloma Kouider and violinist Fanny Robilliard. In addition to his performances, Cottet-Dumoulin is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at many institutions, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He is also a professor at the Haute École de Musique de Genève in Switzerland. Cottet-Dumoulin's talent and hard work have been recognized with several awards and honors. In 2010, he was awarded the Prix Thierry Scherz, which is given to young musicians who show exceptional promise. In 2012, he was named a laureate of the Fondation d'entreprise Banque Populaire, which provides financial support to young artists.
