He went on to study at the Royal College of Music in London, where he was awarded the prestigious Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Scholarship. Schellhorn's career as a professional musician began in earnest in the early 2000s, when he began performing regularly in concerts and recitals across the UK and Europe. He quickly gained a reputation for his virtuosic playing and his ability to bring out the emotional depth and complexity of the music he performed. One of the highlights of Schellhorn's early career was his performance of Messiaen's monumental piano cycle Vingt Regards sur l'Enfant-Jésus at the Edinburgh Festival in 2005. This performance was widely acclaimed by critics and established Schellhorn as a major talent in the classical music world. In the years that followed, Schellhorn continued to build his reputation as a performer and recording artist.
