Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta G.F. Malipiero is a classical music ensemble based in Venice, Italy. The orchestra was founded in 1991 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for classical music and a desire to create a new ensemble that would showcase the rich musical heritage of Venice and the surrounding region. The orchestra takes its name from the renowned Italian composer Gian Francesco Malipiero, who was born in Venice in 1882 and is considered one of the most important composers of the 20th century. Malipiero's music is characterized by its innovative harmonies and use of traditional Italian folk melodies, and his influence can be heard in the repertoire of Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta. The ensemble is made up of some of the finest musicians in Italy, many of whom have performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras and conductors. The orchestra's current music director is Maestro Andrea Albertin, who has been with the ensemble since 2015.
