András Soós is a Hungarian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and sensitive interpretations of classical repertoire. Born in Budapest in 1987, Soós began playing the piano at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance. Soós's early career was marked by several notable achievements, including winning first prize at the 2008 International Piano Competition in Rome and the 2010 International Piano Competition in San Marino. He also received the prestigious Junior Prima Award in 2011, which recognizes outstanding young artists in Hungary. In 2012, Soós made his debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York City, performing a program of works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Liszt. The concert was met with critical acclaim, with The New York Times praising Soós's "impeccable technique and musical sensitivity." Since then, Soós has performed at major concert halls and festivals around the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Salzburg Festival. He has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Zubin Mehta, and has performed with leading orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. Soós's repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing works from the Baroque era to the present day. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Franz Liszt, and has recorded several albums of Liszt's piano music, including the complete Années de pèlerinage. In addition to his performing career, Soós is also a dedicated teacher and has given masterclasses at institutions such as the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Juilliard School in New York. He is currently a professor of piano at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. Throughout his career, Soós has received numerous awards and honors, including the Liszt Prize from the Hungarian government in 2017. He is widely regarded as one of the leading pianists of his generation, and his performances continue to captivate audiences around the world with their technical brilliance and emotional depth.
