Danelius Rubinas was born on May 15, 1985, in Vilnius, Lithuania. He was born into a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Rubinas showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Rubinas received his early musical education at the National M.K. Ciurlionis School of Arts in Vilnius. He then went on to study at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance. Rubinas quickly gained recognition as a talented pianist, winning several national and international competitions. In 2005, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Vilnius, and in 2007, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome. Rubinas has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. He has performed with many renowned orchestras, including the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. One of Rubinas' most memorable performances was his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2010. He performed a program of works by Chopin, Liszt, and Prokofiev to critical acclaim. The New York Times praised his "virtuosic technique and sensitive musicality." Rubinas has also been recognized for his recordings. In 2012, he released a recording of Chopin's complete Nocturnes, which was highly praised by critics. The Gramophone called it "a recording of exceptional beauty and sensitivity." In addition to his performing career, Rubinas is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and has given masterclasses throughout Europe and Asia. Rubinas has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 2014, he was awarded the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Arts, the highest honor given to artists in Lithuania. He was also awarded the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas, one of the highest honors given by the Lithuanian government. Rubinas continues to perform and record, and his passion for music remains as strong as ever.
