Artist Info
Renée Flynn was born on May 15, 1985, in New York City. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Renée showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. As Renée grew older, she became more interested in classical music and began studying the violin. She quickly excelled in her studies and began performing in local orchestras and chamber groups. By the age of 12, Renée had won several competitions and was recognized as a rising star in the classical music world. Renée continued to study the violin throughout her teenage years and eventually went on to attend the Juilliard School in New York City. There, she studied under some of the most renowned violinists in the world and honed her skills as a performer and musician. After graduating from Juilliard, Renée began performing professionally and quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented violinists of her generation. She performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her work as a soloist, Renée was also an accomplished chamber musician. She performed regularly with her own ensemble, the Flynn Quartet, and collaborated with other musicians and ensembles around the world. Throughout her career, Renée received numerous awards and accolades for her performances. She was a recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Naumburg International Violin Competition, and the International Tchaikovsky Competition, among others. One of Renée's most memorable performances came in 2010, when she performed the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising Renée's virtuosity and emotional depth. In addition to her work as a performer, Renée was also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She taught at several prestigious music schools, including the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music, and was known for her ability to inspire and guide young musicians. Tragically, Renée's career was cut short when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2015. Despite her illness, she continued to perform and teach, inspiring countless musicians and fans with her courage and determination. Renée passed away on June 10, 2017, at the age of 32. She left behind a legacy as one of the most talented and beloved classical musicians of her generation, and her contributions to the world of music will be remembered for years to come.More....
