Irma Colasanti was born on May 12, 1985, in Rome, Italy. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her father being a pianist and her mother a singer. From a young age, Colasanti showed a natural talent for music and began studying the piano at the age of four. As a child, Colasanti participated in numerous piano competitions and won several awards. Her talent was recognized by renowned pianist Martha Argerich, who invited Colasanti to participate in her masterclasses in Lugano, Switzerland. This experience had a profound impact on Colasanti and inspired her to pursue a career in music. Colasanti continued her studies at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome, where she studied with renowned pianist Sergio Perticaroli. She also studied with pianist Boris Petrushansky at the International Piano Academy in Imola, Italy. In 2006, Colasanti won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Città di Cantù" in Italy. This was a major achievement for Colasanti and helped to launch her career as a concert pianist. Over the years, Colasanti has performed in numerous prestigious venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. She has also performed with many renowned orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. One of Colasanti's most memorable performances was her debut at Carnegie Hall in 2010. She performed a program of works by Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff to critical acclaim. The New York Times praised her "impeccable technique and musical sensitivity." In addition to her performances, Colasanti is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught masterclasses at numerous institutions around the world, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Juilliard School in New York. Colasanti has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 2012, she was awarded the prestigious "Premio Abbiati" by the Italian National Association of Music Critics. This award is considered one of the highest honors in the Italian music world. In 2015, Colasanti released her debut album, "Chopin: The Complete Nocturnes." The album received critical acclaim and was praised for Colasanti's "sensitive and nuanced" interpretation of Chopin's music. Today, Colasanti continues to perform and teach around the world. She is known for her passionate and expressive performances, as well as her dedication to promoting classical music to new audiences.
