Born on October 30, 1972, in Quebec City, Canada, Lord grew up in a musical family. Her father was a jazz musician, and her mother was a singer. Lord began singing at a young age and showed a natural talent for music. Lord's musical education began at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec, where she studied voice. She later continued her studies at the Université Laval, where she earned a degree in music. Lord also studied at the Atelier lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal, where she received training in opera. Lord's career as a professional musician began in 1998 when she won the first prize at the Canadian Music Competition. This win opened doors for her, and she began performing in various concerts and recitals across Canada. In 2000, Lord made her debut with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, where she performed the role of Micaëla in Bizet's Carmen.
