Rubén Ramiro is a renowned classical guitarist from Spain, known for his virtuosic performances and innovative interpretations of classical guitar repertoire. Born in Madrid in 1969, Ramiro began playing guitar at the age of six, under the guidance of his father, who was also a guitarist. He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument, and began performing publicly at the age of nine. Ramiro's early musical education was heavily influenced by the Spanish guitar tradition, particularly the works of Francisco Tárrega and Andrés Segovia. He studied with several prominent guitarists in Spain, including José Luis Rodrigo and José Tomás, and also attended masterclasses with international guitarists such as Julian Bream and John Williams. In 1988, Ramiro won first prize in the prestigious Francisco Tárrega International Guitar Competition, which launched his career as a professional musician. He went on to win several other major competitions, including the Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competition in 1991 and the Alhambra International Guitar Competition in 1993. Ramiro's performances have taken him to concert halls and festivals around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. He has also performed with leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Spanish National Orchestra. Ramiro is known for his innovative approach to classical guitar repertoire, which combines traditional Spanish guitar techniques with contemporary musical styles. He has recorded several albums, including "Guitarra Clásica Española" (1995), "Guitarra Clásica Contemporánea" (2001), and "Guitarra Clásica del Siglo XXI" (2010), which showcase his unique musical vision. In addition to his performing career, Ramiro is also a respected teacher and mentor to young guitarists. He has taught at several music schools and conservatories in Spain, including the Royal Conservatory of Madrid and the Conservatory of Music in Valencia. He has also given masterclasses and workshops around the world, sharing his knowledge and expertise with aspiring guitarists. Throughout his career, Ramiro has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. In 2003, he was awarded the Medal of Fine Arts by the Spanish government, in recognition of his outstanding achievements as a musician. He has also been honored by the Andrés Segovia Foundation and the Francisco Tárrega Foundation, among others.
