He began taking piano lessons with his mother and later studied under the renowned Italian pianist, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. Piero's talent and dedication to music were evident from an early age, and he quickly gained recognition as a prodigy. In 1951, Piero made his debut performance at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world. He performed Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K. 466, to critical acclaim. This performance marked the beginning of Piero's illustrious career as a classical pianist.
