Adele Auriol was a French classical music artist who was born on October 1, 1880, in Paris, France. She was the daughter of a wealthy family and grew up in a musical environment. Her father was a composer and her mother was a pianist, so it was natural for Adele to develop an interest in music at a young age. Adele began her musical training at the Paris Conservatory at the age of 11. She studied under the renowned violinist and pedagogue, Martin Pierre Marsick. Marsick was known for his strict teaching methods and high standards, which helped Adele develop a strong foundation in violin technique. Adele made her debut as a soloist at the age of 16, performing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Lamoureux Orchestra in Paris. Her performance was well-received, and she quickly gained a reputation as a talented young violinist. In 1902, Adele married the French composer and conductor, Louis Fourestier. The couple had two children together, but Adele continued to pursue her career as a violinist. She performed regularly in France and other European countries, and also made several trips to the United States to perform. One of Adele's most notable performances was at the 1913 premiere of Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" in Paris. The performance was famously controversial, with the audience reacting negatively to the avant-garde music and choreography. However, Adele's performance of the violin solo in the "Introduction" section was widely praised for its technical skill and emotional depth. Adele also had a successful recording career, making several recordings for the Pathé and Columbia labels. Her recordings included works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and other classical composers. In addition to her performing career, Adele was also a respected teacher. She taught at the Paris Conservatory from 1920 to 1940, and her students included several notable violinists, such as Ginette Neveu and Christian Ferras. Adele received several awards and honors throughout her career. In 1923, she was awarded the Legion of Honor, one of France's highest honors. She was also awarded the Grand Prix du Disque in 1949 for her recording of the Brahms Violin Concerto. Adele continued to perform and teach until her death on February 14, 1978, at the age of 97. She was remembered as a talented and dedicated musician who made significant contributions to the world of classical music.
