He also studied with renowned pianists such as Joaquín Soriano, Ramón Coll, and Alicia de Larrocha. Méndez Padrón's talent as a pianist was recognized early on in his career. In 1984, he won first prize in the National Piano Competition "Ciudad de Albacete." This was followed by several other awards, including the "Ciudad de Ferrol" National Piano Competition in 1985 and the "Ciudad de Linares" National Piano Competition in 1986. In 1987, Méndez Padrón made his debut as a soloist with the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21. This performance was a huge success and marked the beginning of his career as a concert pianist. He went on to perform with many other orchestras, including the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, and the Valencia Symphony Orchestra. Méndez Padrón's repertoire includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, including Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. He is particularly known for his interpretations of Spanish composers such as Manuel de Falla, Isaac Albéniz, and Joaquín Rodrigo. In addition to his career as a concert pianist, Méndez Padrón is also a respected music educator. He has taught at several music schools and conservatories, including the Conservatory of Music in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid. In 1994, Méndez Padrón was awarded the Medal of Honor of the Canary Islands, in recognition of his contribution to the cultural life of the region. In 1995, he was awarded the National Prize for Music Interpretation by the Spanish Ministry of Culture. This prestigious award is given to musicians who have made a significant contribution to the development of music in Spain. Méndez Padrón's career has been marked by many highlights, including his performance at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, where he played the Spanish national anthem.
