Duo Sonare is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2008 by two talented musicians, violinist Maria Semeraro and pianist Alessandra Gentile. The duo has gained international recognition for their exceptional performances and unique interpretations of classical music. Maria Semeraro was born in Italy and began playing the violin at the age of six. She studied at the Conservatory of Music in Bari and later at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. She has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles throughout Europe and has won several awards for her outstanding performances. Alessandra Gentile was also born in Italy and began playing the piano at the age of four. She studied at the Conservatory of Music in Naples and later at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, Asia, and the United States and has won several awards for her performances. Duo Sonare's repertoire includes works by classical composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, and Schumann, as well as contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass. The duo's performances are known for their emotional depth and technical precision. One of Duo Sonare's most notable performances was at the 2010 International Chamber Music Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia. The duo received a standing ovation for their performance of Beethoven's Sonata No. 9 in A Major, Op. 47, also known as the "Kreutzer Sonata." The performance was praised for its intensity and emotional depth. In 2012, Duo Sonare released their debut album, "Sonatas for Violin and Piano," which received critical acclaim. The album features works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Schumann and showcases the duo's exceptional musicianship and interpretive skills. Duo Sonare has also been recognized for their commitment to promoting classical music to a wider audience. They have performed in schools and community centers throughout Europe and have participated in several outreach programs aimed at introducing classical music to young people. In 2015, Duo Sonare was awarded the prestigious "Premio Nazionale delle Arti" by the Italian Ministry of Culture for their contributions to the arts. The award recognized the duo's exceptional musicianship and their commitment to promoting classical music to a wider audience.
