From a young age, Sylvia showed a keen interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Sylvia's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking lessons with renowned violinists in Germany and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent. At the age of 12, Sylvia won first prize in the prestigious Jugend musiziert competition, which is one of the most important music competitions for young musicians in Germany. After completing her studies in Germany, Sylvia moved to the United States to further her education. She attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied with some of the most renowned violinists in the world. During her time at Juilliard, Sylvia won several awards and competitions, including the Juilliard Concerto Competition and the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis. Sylvia's talent and hard work paid off, and she quickly established herself as one of the most promising young violinists of her generation. She began performing with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of Sylvia's most memorable performances was her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2008. She performed the Brahms Violin Concerto under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, and her performance was met with critical acclaim. The Berliner Zeitung praised her "brilliant technique and musicality," while the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung called her "a true virtuoso." Sylvia's career continued to flourish, and she became a sought-after soloist and chamber musician. She performed at some of the world's most prestigious music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Tanglewood Music Festival. In addition to her solo career, Sylvia was also a dedicated chamber musician. She was a member of the renowned Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and performed regularly with other leading musicians, including pianist Emanuel Ax and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. In 2010, she was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise for the future.
