He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Janssen showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Janssen's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly developed his skills. By the age of ten, Janssen had already won several local piano competitions and was gaining recognition as a prodigy. In 1997, Janssen was accepted into the prestigious Amsterdam Conservatory, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Jan Wijn. During his time at the conservatory, Janssen honed his skills and developed his own unique style of playing. Janssen's breakthrough performance came in 2003 when he won the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht, Netherlands. This victory catapulted him to international fame and led to numerous invitations to perform at major concert halls around the world. Over the years, Janssen has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many renowned conductors, such as Bernard Haitink, Riccardo Chailly, and Mariss Jansons. Janssen's repertoire is vast and includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the works of Liszt, which he has recorded extensively. In addition to his performances, Janssen is also a dedicated teacher and has given masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Janssen has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2007, he was awarded the Dutch Music Prize, the highest honor for a musician in the Netherlands. He has also been awarded the Edison Classical Music Award, the Echo Klassik Award, and the Gramophone Award. Despite his success, Janssen remains humble and dedicated to his craft.
