Kevin Noe is a renowned conductor and artistic director in the world of classical music. Born in 1969 in the United States, Noe grew up in a family that valued music and the arts. His parents were both musicians, and they encouraged him to pursue his passion for music from a young age. Noe began his musical education at the age of six, when he started taking piano lessons. He quickly showed a talent for the instrument, and by the time he was a teenager, he was performing in local recitals and competitions. In high school, Noe also began to study the trumpet, which would become another important part of his musical career. After graduating from high school, Noe attended the University of Michigan, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance. During his time at Michigan, Noe also began to explore his interest in conducting, and he took classes and workshops in the subject. He was particularly inspired by the work of Leonard Bernstein, and he began to study Bernstein's scores and recordings in depth. After completing his undergraduate degree, Noe went on to earn a Master of Music degree in orchestral conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He also studied at the Aspen Music Festival and School, where he worked with some of the world's leading conductors and musicians. Noe's first professional conducting job was as the assistant conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He also served as the music director of the Cincinnati Youth Symphony Orchestra, where he worked with young musicians and helped to develop their skills and talents. In 2001, Noe was appointed the artistic director and conductor of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble (PNME). The PNME is a contemporary music ensemble that performs works by living composers. Under Noe's leadership, the ensemble has become known for its innovative programming and high-quality performances. Noe has also worked with a number of other orchestras and ensembles throughout his career. He has conducted the Cleveland Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has also worked with the New York City Opera, the Santa Fe Opera, and the Pittsburgh Opera. In addition to his work as a conductor, Noe is also a composer and arranger. He has written works for a variety of ensembles, including orchestras, wind ensembles, and chamber groups. He has also arranged works by other composers, including Bernstein and John Adams. Noe has received numerous awards and honors for his work in the field of classical music. In 2005, he was awarded the ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, which recognizes innovative programming in contemporary music. He has also been awarded the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Performer of the Year award and the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's Creative Achievement Award. One of the highlights of Noe's career was his performance of Bernstein's "Mass" with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in 2018. The performance was part of the orchestra's celebration of Bernstein's centennial, and it received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Noe is known for his passion for contemporary music and his commitment to bringing new works to audiences.
