From a young age, Lorenzo showed a keen interest in music and began studying the cello at the age of six. Lorenzo's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became a prodigy. He studied under some of the most renowned cellists of his time, including Leonard Rose and Gregor Piatigorsky. He also studied at the Juilliard School of Music, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. In 1953, Lorenzo made his debut as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, performing the Dvorak Cello Concerto. This performance was a huge success, and it marked the beginning of Lorenzo's career as a soloist. He went on to perform with many other orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. In addition to his solo performances, Lorenzo was also a member of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra for many years. He played under the direction of some of the most renowned conductors of his time, including Leonard Bernstein and Pierre Boulez.
