Role:EnsembleTrio Rachmaninoff de Montréal is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2004 in Montreal, Canada. The ensemble is named after the famous Russian composer, pianist, and conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff, whose music is a central part of their repertoire. The founding members of the Trio Rachmaninoff de Montréal were pianist Jean-François Latour, violinist Antoine Bareil, and cellist Raphaël Dubé. All three musicians had already established themselves as accomplished performers in their own right before coming together to form the ensemble. Jean-François Latour is a graduate of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and has won numerous awards for his piano playing, including the prestigious Prix d'Europe. Antoine Bareil is also a graduate of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and has performed as a soloist with many of Canada's leading orchestras. Raphaël Dubé is a graduate of the Juilliard School in New York and has performed with orchestras in both Canada and the United States. Since its founding, Trio Rachmaninoff de Montréal has become one of Canada's leading classical music ensembles. The trio has performed extensively throughout Canada and the United States, as well as in Europe and Asia. They have also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Rachmaninoff's Trio élégiaque No. 1. The trio performed a program of works by Rachmaninoff, including his Trio élégiaque No. 2, which was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience. In 2010, Trio Rachmaninoff de Montréal was awarded the Opus Prize for Concert of the Year in the category "Classical, Romantic, Post-Romantic and Impressionist Music". The prize was awarded for their performance of Rachmaninoff's Trio élégiaque No. 1, which was described by the jury as "a performance of great intensity and emotion". Another highlight of Trio Rachmaninoff de Montréal's career was their performance at the 2012 Festival de Lanaudière.
